I wanted to stop coffee grounds going into my disposal and down my drain when I rinse out my coffee maker. With the pair of these with the little handles on them, I take one out and put the other in place while I dump the contents in the trash. There's always a little left over and I rinse it out, which then goes into the second strainer without going down the drain. Easy peasy.We live in a manufactured home with no disposal. This works great to collect small bits of food when rinsing off dishes Easy to lift out with handle & dump in garbage can.Just what I was looking for. Received 2 & put one in each drain of kitchen sink. Very sturdy metal, not mesh wire.I seldom now right reviews but in this case, it is deserving of one and I will tell you why. I have a Parrot and I usually change her seed and water at night before she goes to bed. She sits on her Bowl of food and no matter how hard she tries, some seeds whether from her water bowl or just being with me while I'm changing and cleaning things anything and everything goes into the drain and is usually caught by a disgusting stinky plastic or too small, not deep of a plug. I am constantly having to bang it against the garbage bin to get the guck out of the drain plug and it doesn't come out and many times the drain plug will float up and food and guck will go under the drain and in the sink to clog it. Then I have standing water in the sink, GROSS. Not with these drain catchers. The mesh is just right to catch even corn hair, bird seed, whatever goes into the bird water and so on. I don't have to empty it constantly while doing the dishes and seem to empty once a day. It has a nice metal handle to pull it from the drain, no fishing around for it. It is stainless steel so it stays good looking and not all scratched up or stained with mold like with plastic ones. I have had it almost a week now and am nothing short of amazed at it. I knew what I would need for a decent catcher, but wasn't sure what I would buy would fit that need. This one did, it took many tries to find the right one. So look no further, this is the one you want. I promise you that.With the multitude of small holes, water drains right through and virtually all debris is caught in strainer. The bail handles are small enough to not be an issue yet they are sturdy. Cleaning is fairly easy just turn upside down and tap into garbage pail or wipe with a sponge or towel.Using it in kitchen sink. I put it in the dishwasher to sanitize. Strainer is strong not flimsy at all. Size is perfect.Only have had them for a couple of days but they are better than I thought. Much sturdier than I guessed. Also if one starts to rust or cause problems, I have a backup (there are 2 in the package). The holes are small enough to catch tiny particles but enough of them so that it doesn't slow down the drainage. I love the little handle to pick it up and empty into the garbage as well. This is the first kitchen drainage item that is exactly what I need. I've wasted so much money on so many others. This item provides a lot of bang for my bucks.Best strainer I have EVER had. The holes are small enough that particles do not get into them. Therefore, water gets through easily because holes aren’t clogged. No digging for caught gunk. The handle is great.Who would think something so simple could make such a difference in my sink cleaning mood!We live in an area where I don't have a garbage disposal, since we have a septic system. I'm constantly worried about food and stuff going down the drain and causing a problem. I found these and OMG they are amazing. I am astonished at how much stuff they catch that I now know was previously going down my drain. I usually just dump them into the trash a couple times a day, and run them through the dishwasher each night. They are fantastic.
