You can see a bit of the white inner material through the black outer surface.I do not use a dishwasher so I have a rack and put the mats under the racks to absorb the water off the dishes. It works good and is attractive too.Love it but it doesn’t fold easily.This mat is very big. It fits a skillet and a couple of pots. It’s very absorbent. I don’t wash my pots and skillets in the dish washer. I wash them by hand and this mat is very handy. I keep it folded/rolled in one of the drawers. I pull it out and spread on the counter top when I need it. It’s very cute, just like in the picture. I recommend it.?I have purchased three of these mats so that I can use them in rotation -- when one is in the wash (they wash beautifully) I have another ready to use. The mats are soft and plush and velvety, (something you don't expect in a drying mat) but with the rubberized backing, they do a super job of allowing pots and dishes to air dry. Water doesn't soak through to my counter top, and the plush side dries quickly. Small stains sponge right out, and after a week or two, just toss it in the washer (I air-dry mine) and you're good to go. The best drying mat ever!This mat is so pretty. I'm actually using it to protect my stove top. Would purchase again.
